We are proud to announce our campaign for City Council has received the endorsement of the Sacramento Police Officers Association and the Police Officers Research Association of California! With over 1,000 members, the SPOA is the largest organization of public safety officers in the City of Sacramento. I am grateful for their brave service to our City, but we have much work still to do.
As a neighborhood advocate, I worked with police, fellow neighbors, and downtown business owners to promote a clean and safe city. As a City Councilmember, I will continue working hard to ensure our safety is never compromised. The SPOA shares this commitment, and it is the reason they are supporting our campaign.
“The knowledge and experience of the numerous candidates stepping forward to serve Sacramento demonstrates the resilience of our great City. Choosing the best among them to carry forward the Vision for Sacramento’s future proved to be a very difficult task; however, after much debate, the SPOA Board of Directors chose the candidate who brings the right balance of ability and energy to the Council Chambers,” said SPOA President Mark Tyndale.
Three weeks ago, I sent out a message stating that 2012 will present Sacramentans with an opportunity to elect leadership with the courage to see beyond our differences and work together for the common good. Today’s endorsement is a sign that Sacramento is ready for a new tomorrow – one that is less focused on politics, and more focused on people.
